    Este artículo ofrece una visión general del sector transportador de carga terrestre carretero en Colombia, y de sus perspectivas en el corto, mediano y largo plazo. Se realiza un recorrido por los siguientes temas relativos al sector de transporte de carga en el país: aspectos macroeconómicos del sector, problemática actual del transporte de carga por carretera, los diferentes actores de la cadena productiva, inversión nacional y extranjera en infraestructura y en el sector transportador, políticas y normatividad estatal respecto a infraestructura y al transporte de carga, expectativas de las entidades gremiales, y finalmente las conclusiones generales del artículo.

    This article offers a general overview of the overland cargo transportation industry on roads in Colombia, and its perspectives in the short, medium and long term. The following aspects related to the cargo transportation industry in the country are covered: the industry’s macroeconomical aspects, current issues on overland cargo transportation on roads, different participants of the chain of production, national and foreign investment on infrastructure and the transportation industry, state policies and regulations regarding infrastructure and cargo transportation, expectations from union entities, and finally, the general conclusions of the article.
