    En 2019 estalló un acalorado debate en Alemania en torno a las reclamaciones de indemnización de la antigua casa real de Hohenzollern. Este artículo expondrá primero los antecedentes jurídicos del caso. A continuación, se examinarán la evaluación del debate y la forma en la que el caso se ha discutido en la historiografía, la política y los medios de comunicación. Por último, se mostrará que, de forma muy similar a la famosa Historikerstreit de los años ochenta, este debate no trata únicamente de la colaboración de los Hohenzollern con los nazis y los posicionamientos políticos y morales al respecto. Más bien se ha convertido, sobre todo, en un campo de batalla para la interpretación del pasado reciente de Alemania y de las políticas de memoria histórica en la actual República Federal.

    In 2019, a heated debate erupted in Germany around the com-pensation claims of the former royal house of Hohenzollern. This ar-ticle will first set out the legal background to the case. It will then ex-amine how the debate unfolded and how the case was discussed within historical literature, and in politics and the media. Finally, it will be shown that, much like the famous Historikerstreit of the 1980s, this debate is not only about the collaboration of the Hohenzollerns with the Nazis and the associated political and moral positioning. Rather, it has become above all a battleground for the interpretation of Germa-ny’s recent past and the politics of history in today’s Federal Republic.
