Por eso con valor adversativo-concesivo en el español informal de Cataluña

    El presente estudio investiga el uso y el significado de la partícula discursiva por eso en al-gunas muestras del español informal de Cataluña donde, aparte del significado literal, recibe un sentido adversativo-concesivo. La investigación se lleva a cabo utilizando los datos de un corpus y una encuesta elaborados específicamente para la misma. El corpus consiste en conversaciones de WhatsApp que sirven para ejemplificar el uso de por eso adversativo-concesivo, así como para determinar sus usos y los significados asociados a los mismos. Se descubren cuatro valores: adversativo, concesivo, adversativo con advertencia y enfático. El cuestionario, por su parte, investiga tanto el uso y valores de por eso como la percepción y valoración que tienen los informantes acerca de su carácter normativo y cuáles son los factores que influyen en ello. La mayoría de los encuestados piensan que cabe dentro del marco normativo del español y con más probabilidad cuando se trata de hablantes cuya lengua materna es el catalán.

    The present study investigates the use and the meaning of the Spanish discourse particle por eso in the informal Spanish of Catalonia where apart from the literal meaning, it also has a lexicalised adversative-concessive sense. The investigation has been carried out by using the data extracted from an inquiry and a corpus elaborated specifically for the purpose of the study. The corpus consists of WhatsApp messages and in addition to exemplifying the use of the particle, it also serves as a database to determine the use and the sense of it. Four meanings are discovered: emphasising sense, adversative, concessive and adversative with sense of caution. The questionnaire, on the other hand, studies both the use and the sense of por eso and the informants’ perception and valuation of its normative character as well as the factors that have an influence on it. The majority think it is normative and with higher probability when the informant’s mother tongue is Catalan.
