Cooperación internacional en el sector estratégico de la salud. El caso China- América Latina y el Caribe

    En años recientes, la cooperación internacional entre China y América Latina y el Caribe (ALC) ha aumentado progresivamente. Sin embargo, los estudios existentes distan de realizar análisis relativos a la colaboración en un sector estratégico en boga actualmente: la salud. Ahora bien, tomando en consideración esta situación, en el presente trabajo se propone identificar la relevancia que China le atribuye a ALC en lo que refiere concretamente al ámbito de la cooperación sanitaria. Para concretar tal objetivo, la metodología consistió en la combinación de una revisión de literatura con el análisis de tratados, iniciativas e instrumentos diseñados por el país para concretar procesos de colaboración con la región. A modo de conclusión, se observó que el abordaje de la temática en los documentos explorados es superficial y que es notable la ausencia de un interés que promueva la institucionalización y diversificación de los mecanismos de cooperación en salud con la región.

    In recent years, international cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) has progressively increased. However, existing studies are far from analyzing collaboration in a strategic sector that is currently in vogue: health. Taking this situation into account, this study aims to identify the importance that China attaches to LAC in the area of health cooperation. To achieve this objective, the methodology consisted of combining a review of the literature with an analysis of treaties, initiatives and instruments designed by the country to implement collaboration processes with the region. By way of conclusion, it was observed that the approach to the subject in the documents explored is superficial and that there is a notable absence of interest in promoting the institutionalization and diversification of health cooperation mechanisms with the region.
