Resumen de A Filosofia, o Pós-Morte e o Mito do Górgias

No fim do Górgias, Sócrates, após refutar seus adversários na argumentação, apresenta um mito sobre o pós-morte. Visamos analisar este mito e responder à questão «por que ele está presente no Górgias?» Em busca de respostas satisfatórias para essa questão, exploraremos criticamente certos temas filósofos (e teológicos) relativos ao pós-morte. Desse modo, abordaremos a relação entre moralidade e imortalidade, o papel do medo da punição pós-morte no discurso ético e os possíveis conflitos entre a punição eterna do mito e a teoria da pena socrática exposta no decorrer do diálogo.

At the end of the Gorgias, Socrates, after refuting his opponents in the argument, presents a myth about the postmortem. We aim to analyze this myth and answer the question «why is it present in the Gorgias?» In search of satisfactory answers to this question, we will critically explore certain philosophical (and theological) themes related to the postmortem. In this way, we will address the relationship between morality and immortality, the role of fear of postmortem punishment in ethical discourse and the possible conflicts between the eternal punishment of myth and the Socratic penalty theory exposed throughout the dialogue.
