The work analyzes the critique of religion as a critique of social reality in modernity based on the thought of the philosopher Karl Marx. Since religion is not a product that exists by itself, but a phenomenon arising from society. For Marx, the persistence of religion, both in the public and private spheres, is explained by the material conditions of society's existence. Thus, the Marxian critique of religion is an analysis of bourgeois society that subjects the individual to a life of fetters.
