  Las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (las llamadas TIC) favorecen el intercambio global de contenidos. El siglo XXI será testigo de la convivencia entre documentos tangibles y otros específicamente creados en formato digital, los llamados born digital, cuya fragilidad hace temer por su perdurabilidad. La Biblioteca Nacional de España, consciente de los desafíos planteados por la era digital, apuesta por la institución a largo plazo de un archivo de la web española que garantice la preservación de nuestro rico patrimonio cultural digital. El presente trabajo refiere cómo se constituyó dicho archivo y enmarca los desafíos futuros a los que se enfrenta el proyecto.

  Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) favour global exchange of contents. The XXIst Century shall stand as witness to the coexistence of both tangible and born digital documents. The fragility of documents specifically created in digital format makes their durability a cause for concern. The National Library of Spain is conscious of the challenges posed by the digital age and commits itself to the long-term institution of an archive of the Spanish web that guarantees the preservation of our rich cultural digital heritage. The present work recounts the constitution of such an archive and contextualizes future challenges faced by the project.
