  • Resumen
    • Crack tip fields mathematical models in conjunction with full-field optical techniques for the measurement of stresses, strains or displacements have allowed inferring precisely crack tip parameters and consequently, to analyse their role as fatigue crack driving forces. Despite several methodologies that have been developed to infer crack tip parameters, some issues related to the fitting approach or fitting parameters have still been unresolved. In this work, the influence of fitting parameters as well as fitting methods is evaluated. The present study has been performed from the analysis of crack tip displacement fields measured with 3D-DIC in 2024T3 aluminium specimens tested at constant amplitude loading cycle.

Results show how the fitting method can modify significantly inferred crack tip parameters as well as the influence of data collection parameters. In addition, the crack tip position determined by fitting was evaluated to check methods’ feasibility for this purpose.
