    En este artículo se analiza en primer lugar, el círculo de amistades de Pío y Ricardo Baroja en Bera, localidad en la que desde 1912 residían en la temporada veraniega en la casona de Itzea, así como con sus relaciones con la gente del pueblo y las autoridades municipales. En segundo lugar, se estudian los dos intentos, en 1920 y 1922, de Pío Baroja por ser concejal en Bera, saldados ambos con el fracaso, así como el perfil de los compañeros de su candidatura. En tercer lugar, se pondera la actuación de dos de aquellos compañeros en la liberación de Pío Baroja el 23 de julio de 1936 tras su detención y encarcelamiento en Doneztebe/Santesteban la tarde anterior, a pesar de que desde hace años la relación con uno de ellos, un hombre fuerte del carlismo, era negativa.

    This article first analyzes the circle of friends of Pío and Ricardo Baroja in Bera, a town where they lived in the summer season in the Itzea mansion since 1912, as well as their relationships with the townspeople and the municipal authorities. Secondly, the two attempts, in 1920 and 1922, by Pío Baroja to be a councilor in Bera, both of which ended in failure, are studied, as well as the profile of his companions in his candidacy. Thirdly, the performance of two of those comrades in the liberation of Pío Baroja on July 23, 1936 after his arrest and imprisonment in Doneztebe/Santesteban the previous afternoon is pondered, despite the fact that for years the relationship with one of them, a strong man of carlism, was negative.

    Artikulu honetan, lehenik eta behin, Pio eta Rikardo Barojak Beran zituzten lagunak aztertzen dira, 1912az geroztik Itzea etxetzarrean bizi ziren herrian, baita herriko jendearekin eta udal agintariekin zituzten harremanak ere.
