Resumen de El impulso del ego: la producción museística de los premios Pritzker en las últimas cinco décadas

  Durante los últimos cincuenta años el género museístico en arquitectura ha acaparado un importante protagonismo. Por sus singulares implicaciones, ha constituido un campo abonado para el trabajo de los llamados arquitectos estrella –en especial a partir de los años 90–, quienes, en gran medida, han concentrado el trabajo más relevante y espectacular de este periodo en el mudable ámbito de los equipamientos expositivos. En este singular grupo de arquitectos y arquitectas pueden incluirse aquellos que han sido distinguidos con el Pritzker, el más alto reconocimiento que un arquitecto puede recibir en vida. La investigación que sigue trata de evaluar el impacto y relevancia de la labor realizada por este elenco de arquitectos en relación con el diseño y construcción de museos, teniendo en cuenta la especial filiación de los organizadores del galardón con el mundo del arte, y lo representativo y significativo de la obra de estos arquitectos que han sido actores principales del periodo de estudio señalado. El trabajo incluye como fuente de investigación primaria un mapa inédito elaborado por los autores que reúne toda la producción museística a cargo de estos arquitectos y la ordena en sucesivas generaciones de «pritzkers».

  Over the last fifty years, the museum genre in architecture has taken center stage. Because of its singular implications, it has been a fertile ground for the work of the so- called star architects, especially since the 1990s, who, to a large extent, have concentrated the most relevant and spectacular work of this period in the changeable field of exhibition facilities. This unique group of architects includes those who have been distinguished with the Pritzker Prize, the highest award an architect can receive during his lifetime. The following research attempts to evaluate the impact and relevance of the work carried out by this group of architects in relation to the design and construction of museums, taking into account the special affiliation of the organizers of the award with the art world, and the representativeness and significance of the work of these architects who have been major players in the period under study. The work includes as a primary research source an unpublished map drawn up by the authors that brings together all the museum production by these architects and arranges it in successive generations of «Pritzkers».
