Twenty years ago, Borlänge was one of the Sweden's dirtiest towns, but in 1992 won King Carl Gustaf's environment prize. A new approach and extensive computerization are the keys to this improvement. Over five years, a total of SEK 25 million have been invested in computer equipment and systems for control, regulation and monitoring. This is an investment which is designed to provide a complete overview of total operational economy; emissions limits, and any future need to expand or cut back activities.
