Resumen de Tumor hipofisario en una oveja con sintomatología nerviosa crónica

  Esta comunicación presenta el caso clínico de una oveja de 8 años de edad, de aptitudcárnica, que llegó al Servicio Clínico de Rumiantes del Hospital Clínico de la Universidadde Zaragoza el pasado curso 2016-17. El animal fue remitido al Servicio debido a su nulaproducción y al estado neurológico anómalo de obnubilación y somnolencia que mostraba.A su llegada se le realizó una exploración clínica completa y un análisis hematológico.Pasados unos días y debido al deterioro físico y mental que mostraba se decidió llevar acabo el sacrificio humanitario del animal y su examen post mortem pertinente. Al realizar lanecropsia se encontró un adenoma hipofisario el cual comprimía dorsalmente el hipotálamoy los nervios ópticos, los cuales se encontraban marcadamente engrosados, provocando elcuadro clínico que el animal presentaba.

  This study presents the clinical case of an 8-year-old ewe, of meat aptitude, whicharrived at the Ruminant Clinical Service of the Clinical Hospital of the Veterinary Facultyof Zaragoza the last academic year 2016-17.The animal was referred to the Service due to a lack of production and the abnormalneurological state of drowsiness that showed in its farm of origin. After arrival, a completeclinical examination as well as routine hematology was performed. Due to the physical andmental state that the animal showed, it was decided to carry out a humanitarian sacrificeand its relevant postmortem examination. At the necropsy, a pituitary adenoma was foundwhich compressed dorsally the hypothalamus and the optic nerves, which were markedlythickened, all that caused the clinical signs in the animal.
