Resumen de Factores que afectan el desarrollo del sector de molinería de arroz en el departamento norte de santander

  El objetivo de la investigación fue realizar un diagnóstico para identificar los factores que condicionan el desarrollo del sector molinería de arroz en el Departamento Norte de Santander. Se ejecutó un estudio descriptivo apoyado en un diseño de campo. Se evaluaron los factores de competitividad utilizando el Modelo de las cinco fuerzas de Porter, además se realizó el análisis interno y externo para identificar los elementos que están impactando la capacidad del sector para su desarrollo. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron identificar algunas falencias y también potencialidades para las empresas del sector arrocero en el Departamento Norte de Santander. Todo el conjunto de factores de competitividad evidencia que el mercado de este sector arrocero exige condiciones de eficiencia y efectividad de las empresas participantes para lograr adecuados niveles de competitividad. El análisis interno permitió identificar fortalezas en cuanto a capacidad financiera, capacidad de producción y de comercialización, aunque presenta deficiencias en la gestión del talento humano.  Respecto al análisis externo, se observaron importantes amenazas derivadas de la evolución del mercado de proveedores; en cuanto a los clientes se observa una oportunidad derivada de la demanda creciente, aunque la escasa reacción del mercado ante la diferenciación del producto puede facilitar la entrada de nuevos competidores que ofrecen mejores precios. Finalmente se determinó que el gobierno está generando condiciones y restricciones legales que pueden afectar la competitividad del mercado.  Estos resultados permiten establecer una base para la formulación de acciones, el desarrollo del sector debe estar sustentado en un programa de acción que atienda las deficiencias encontradas y aproveche las ventajas competitivas de este importante sector de la economía colombiana.

  The objective of the research was to carry out a diagnosis to identify factors that condition the development of the rice milling sector in the Norte de Santander Department. A descriptive study was carried out based on a field design. The competitive factors were evaluated using the Porter's Five Force Model, and an internal and external analysis was carried out to identify the elements that are impacting the sector's development capacity. The obtained results allowed us to identify some shortcomings and also the potential for companies in the rice sector in the Norte de Santander Department. The whole set of competitive factors show that the market of this rice sector requires conditions of efficiency and effectiveness from the participating companies to achieve proper levels of competitiveness. The internal analysis allowed to identify strengths in terms of financial capacity, production capacity and marketing, although it has deficiencies in the human talent management. Regarding the external analysis, important threats were observed derived from the evolution of the supplier market; in terms of customers, an opportunity derived from the growing demand is noticed, although the lack of market reaction to the differentiation of the product may ease the entry of new competitors that offer better prices. Finally, it was determined that the government is generating legal conditions and restrictions that may affect the markets competitiveness. These results allow to establish a base for the formulation of actions, the development of the sector must be supported by an action program that attend to the deficiencies found and also use the competitive advantages of this important sector of the Colombian economy.
