  • Though Xabier Garmendia is not a man who shows clearly his feelings, he is certainly content due to three considerable documents that have been made during his order: the Project about Special Waste Management, the Guiding Plan of Inert Wastes and the Guiding Plan about Polluted Soils . Besides, the Basque Government has started numerous projects: the installation of three incinerators for hospital wastes, collection and management of used oils, the recovery of Lindane's landfills, projects to the sanitation of some drainage areas. .. The historical problem of a so industrialized area as the Basque Country, the enormous waste generation, may become a positive sign if this helps to ((acquire the enough experience, know-how, and take enough managing initiatives to give solutions in other areas of the Nation».
