    En la década de 1520-1530 Christoph Weiditz, artista del Alto Rin, realizó un viaje por la España del emperador Carlos V que daría como resultado la creación del Trachtenbuch, un libro donde recoge los sitios que visita. En este volumen llama la atención los múltiples dibujos que Weiditz elabora, siendo minucioso en la ejecución de los tipos que representa. El objetivo principal de este texto es realizar un acercamiento a la indumentaria, concretamente a los vestidos femeninos, y analizar las particularidades del traje español en la España de comienzos del siglo XVI. De igual modo, pretendemos acercarnos a la figura del artista, los motivos que le impulsaron a emprender el viaje y los resultados que obtuvo con él: la creación de su libro. Asimismo, examinaremos la problemática existente en torno al volumen y ofreceremos distintas lecturas más allá de la simple etiqueta de libro de viajes que ha recibido durante años. En síntesis, nos proponemos utilizar el Trachtenbuch como una fuente documental y visual para estudiar la indumentaria femenina de la época.

    In the 1520s-1530s Christoph Weiditz, an artist from the Upper Rhine, undertook a journey through the Spain of Emperor Charles V, which resulted in the creation of Trachtenbuch, a book in which he recorded the places he visited. In this volume, Weiditz's many drawings are striking, and he is meticulous in the execution of the types he depicts. The main aim of this text is to approach costume, specifically women's dress, and to analyse the particularities of Spanish costume in early 16th- century Spain. We will also look at the figure of the artist, the reasons that prompted him to undertake the journey and the results he obtained from it: the creation of his book. We will also examine the problems surrounding the volume and offer different readings beyond the simple label of travel book that it has received over the years. In short, we intend to use the Trachtenbuch as a documentary and visual source for the study of women's clothing of the period.
