Resumen de Ectos del nivel de alimentación durante la lactación y la recría sobre el crecimiento de novillas de raza parda de montaña

J.A. Rodriguez Sánchez, A. Sanz, Isabel Casasús Pueyo

  • This study analysed the effects of different nutrition levels from heifers’ birth to first Timed Artificial Insemination (TAI) at 15 months, on their growth patterns. Twenty-nine Parda de Montaña heifers, born in autumn, were assigned to two nutrition levels during lactation (0-6 months: High vs. Low) and rearing (6-15 months: High vs. Low). Productive and reproductive parameters were controlled from heifers’ birth until weaning of their first calves (30 months). It can be concluded that, depending on the food availability, heifers would be able to compensate lower growth rates in previous phases. In extensive systems, using TAI at 15 months, it will be necessary to guarantee growth rates close to 1 kg/d during lactation or/and rearing, the first option consuming less amount of concentrate.
