  La Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios (LEAR) fue una agrupación que organizó a los artistas e intelectuales mexicanos en la década de 1930. La LEAR tuvo una influencia considerable en el campo del arte y la cultura en México y también fue parte de una red de artistas e intelectuales antifascistas que definió una posición internacional para la defensa de la cultura. A pesar de la notable influencia de la LEAR, esta organización fue estudiada por la historiografía del arte mexicano a partir de la década de 1990. Este artículo busca mostrar cómo el archivo fue fundamental para los estudios históricos de la LEAR, como fuente, pero también como memoria textual que posibilita interpretaciones sobre los proyectos de los artistas y las resoluciones y tensiones entre el diálogo privado y la proyección de imágenes.

  The League of Writers and Revolutionary Artists (LEAR) was a group which organized the Mexican artists and intellectuals in the 1930s. The LEAR had a considerable influence into the field of art and culture in Mexico and also was part of an antifascist artist and intellectual network which defined an international position for the defense of culture. Despite the remarkable influence of the LEAR, this organization has been studied by the historiography of Mexican art since the 1990s. This paper seeks to show how the archive was fundamental for the historic studies of the LEAR, as a source, but also as a textual memory that enables interpretations about the artists’ projects and the resolutions and tensions between the private dialogue and the projection of images.
