Resumen de Variación de la respuesta a la aversión condicionada en ganado ovino según la raza

Carme L. Manuelian Fusté, Elena Albanell Trullás, Maristela Rovai, Ahmed A. K. Salama, Gerardo Caja López

  • Lithium chloride (LiCl) was used to induce aversion to olive tree leaves in a total of 45 ewes of 3 breeds (Manchega, Lacaune and Ripollesa). Ewes were allocated into 3 groups/breed and intake of olive leaves (novel feed) measured with or without individually post intake dosing of LiCl (200 or 225 mg/kg BW). Aversion was induced in 3 d, with a second dose if necessary, and evaluated by double-choice test (olive leaves-ryegrass) for 70 d. Differences in olive leaves intake between doses was observed in Manchega and Lacaune ewes. Lacaune breed showed greater aversion persistence. Differences in individual behaviour were observed by treatment. Use of LiCl was considered a useful tool for selective grazing and ecological bio-agriculture.
