Resumen de Efecto del cruce y del acabado en el crecimiento de potros sacrificados a 18 meses

S. Crecente, F. Franco Rodríguez, J.M. Lorenzo

  • The aim of this work was to study the effect of crossbred and finishing dose on the growth of foals slaughtered at 18 months. A total of 17 crossbred foals with HB and 10 Galician foals were used. Foals were divided in two groups, one was fed with 1,5 kg of fodder per day and foal and the other one with 3 kg of fodder per day and foal. The average daily gain (ADG) was negative during the first indoors two weeks, due to both changes in feed type and stress caused by the change from the pasture to the stable. The ADG was positive in the rest of the finishing period, reaching the maximum at the last month (0,65 and 0,81 kg for 1.5 and 3 kg of fodder per day and foal, respectively). There were no significant differences (P>0.05) in ADG in the finishing period, both by breed and fodder dose. There were significant differences (P<0,001) on live weight between crossbred and Galician foals.
