In what sense does the figure of Antigone contain, for Jacques Lacan, the mystery of desire? How does the radiance of this tragic heroine stand between life and death? The essay investigates the uncanny proximity between desire and death, between Good and destruction, between the universality of the Law and sadism, through the reading of Antigone offered by Lacan in “Seminar VI”, which opposes to the Hegelian dialectic of recognition the excess of two criminal and necrophilic desires. A ethical question remains open: what does it mean to act in accordance with one’s desire?

In che senso la figura di Antigone racchiude, per Jacques Lacan, il mistero del desiderio? In che modo il fulgore di questa eroina tragica si situa tra la vita e la morte? Il saggio indaga l’inquietante prossimità tra desiderio e morte, tra Bene e distruzione, tra universalità della Legge e sadismo, scandagliando la lettura di Antigone offerta da Lacan nel Seminario VI, che oppone alla dialettica del riconoscimento hegeliana l’eccesso di due desideri criminali e necrofili. Resta aperta una domanda etica: cosa significa agire conformemente al proprio desiderio?
