Evaluación de un Programa Comunitario Destinado a Favorecer el Desarrollo Psicosocial de Madres Adolescentes y sus Hijos

    Se evalúa un programa de intervención para favorecer el bienestar de madres adolescentes y sus hijos. Se compararon 30 madres del programa con 30 no participantes. Las madres fueron evaluadas mediante el Cuestionario de Depresión de Beck, la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg, la Escala de Apoyo Social Percibido de Procidano y Heller y una entrevista; los niños, mediante el E.E.D.P. y el TEPSI. Los resultados apoyan el impacto del programa sobre el desarrollo psicomotor de niños menores de 2 años, pero no sobre los niños de 2 a 5 años. No se observaron diferencias significativas en el bienestar psicosocial entre ambos grupos de madres . Se sugiere adecuar los objetivos y refocalizar la población beneficia ria de programas de esta naturaleza.

    The evaluation of an intervention program oriented to promote the well-being of adolescent mothers and their children is presented. The study compared a sample of 30 participants with a group of 30 nonparticipant mothers and their chíldren. The Beck Depression Inventory, Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale, and Procidano and Heller's Perceived Social Support Scale were used in the assessment of the mothers; children were evaluated with E.E.D.P. and TEPSI. The data support the impact of the program on infant's development but not on children older than 2 years. There were no significan! differences on psychosocial well-being )Jetween participan! and nonparticipant mothers. The reformulation of goals and redefinition of the target population for thís kind of programs is suggested.
