El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el suceso del terremoto que sacudió la región de Calabria en 1638 desde una doble perspectiva discursiva : la italiana y la española. Para ello se estudiarán dos relaciones de sucesos : el texto original italiano y su respectiva traducción al español. El estudio comparativo de ambos pliegos permitirá poner de relieve la fidelidad (o no) de la transmisión de un mismo evento por medio de la traducción de relaciones de sucesos. Asimismo, se analizarán las estrategias de traducción en las relaciones de sucesos con el fin de dibujar la figura del traductor de estos documentos. Esta comparativa resulta de especial interés para el estudio de la Historia de la lengua española, ya que por medio de la traducción se contemplará la influencia de la lengua italiana sobre el español clásico.

The aim of this work is to analyze the earthquake that struck the region of Calabria in 1638 from a doble discursive perspective : the Italian and the Spanish one. This shall be done in particular through the study of two accounts of events : the original Italian text and its respective translation into Spanish. This comparative study will bring into the limelight the accuracy –or lack of it– of the transmission of the same fact throughout the translation of accounts of events. Furthermore, translation strategies in these pieces of paper will be analyzed in order to trace the figure of these documents’ translator. This comparison is of particular interest for the study of the History of the Spanish language, since it will be recognized the influence that Italian language exerted through translation in 17th Century Spanish.
