    Introduction: The neonatal phase is a period of adaptation, since the extrauterine environment makes the baby exposed to agents which can cause harm, such as infections, which are the responsiblefor the crescent numbers of morbidity. The family is maintainer of the baby’s health;therefore, they need correct orientation. Purpose: To show the perception of the family on the exposition of the newborn to harmful agents. Methods: This is an integrative review of the literature, made with the databases: VirtualHealth Library (VHL), Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health and Science (LILACS) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), from 2014-2019, full text and available in Portuguese. The descriptors used were: newborn; family relationship;risk factors; mortality; sepsis; nosocomial infection; with the use of the Booleanoperator “and”. Results: Were identified 4.985documents and after selection with filters there were only 350left. After analysis, some were also excluded for (title, text, duplicity, etc.), leaving only 09articles left. Prevalence of researches that used descriptive/ quantitative methods. Final Considerations: The parents are the maintainers of the newborn, which they don’t always know how to take care, health education is essential on prevention, especially in areas of poverty.

    Introdução: A fase neonatal é considerada adaptativa, pois o ambiente extrauterino torna o recém-nascido susceptível à exposição de agentes nocivos, que podem desencadear agravos, como os processos infecciosos, que culminam em elevados índices de adoecimento. Os pais, e familiares são provedores da manutenção da saúde, necessitando de orientações oportunas. Objetivo: Apresentar a percepção dos pais e familiares sobre a exposição cotidiana do recém-nascido a agentes nocivos. Método: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, embasada em sondagem dos bancos de dados: Biblioteca Nacional em Saúde (BVS), Literatura Latino-americano e do Caribe em Ciências Sociais e da Saúde (LILACS), e Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), entre 2014-2019, artigos completos, idioma português. Os descritores utilizados associados e alternadamente, foram: recém-nascido; relação familiar; fatores de risco; mortalidade; sepse; infecção hospitalar; fazendo uso do operador booleano and. Resultados: Identificados 4.846 documentos, mediante filtragem de inclusão resultaram 318. Após análise, alguns foram excluídos, por (título, texto, duplicidade, entre outros), sendo posteriormente eleitos 09 artigos. Prevalência de pesquisas descritivo-quantitativa. Considerações finais: Os pais são essências a manutenção da saúde neonatal, mas nem sempre sabem como prestar os cuidados, a educação em saúde é eficaz para prevenir eventos desencadeadores de adoecimento, especialmente em regiões mais pobres.
