    Resumen La Encíclica Laudato SI' revela el mensaje de cuidado de la "Casa Común" como obligación moral de todos los habitantes; sin embargo, menciona que también hay un sector involucrado en este propósito: las universidades. En el presente artículo académico se explora lo emanado en esta Encíclica, a partir del estado del arte que ha comprendido una cuidadosa revisión de la misma, así como de investigaciones relacionadas con el tema respecto a la responsabilidad social universitaria para con el entorno. Se rescata de la lectura de esta obra, nociones alusivas al rol de la educación superior en el cuidado del medio ambiente, impulsando una reflexión con el fin de promover, éticamente, valores humanos y cristianos desde la perspectiva académica para el cuidado de nuestro planeta.

    Abstract The Encyclical Laudato SI' reveáis the message of taking care of the "Common Home" as a moral must of all inhabitants. However, it also mentions that there is a sector highly involved in this purpose: the universities. This academic article explores what it is issued in this Encyclical, under a State of the Art that has implied a careful review of it as of papers related to the topic, regarding the higher education responsibility with the environment. From the reading of this Encyclical, some notions have been deducted alluding higher education in the role of taking care of the environment and encouraging a reflection on the matter, in order to promote, as an ethical imperative, the human and Christian valúes from an academic perspective regarding the care of our planet.
