This paper reviews the relation between board of directors (as main body to exertcorporate governance) and business transformation (as one of the most pressingcurrent issues to manage) through a bibliometric analysis of previous literaturepublished in Web of Science (Core Collection ™) between 1990 and 2021. A total of966 articles were retrieved from Q1 and Q2 publications and analysed in two differentperiods following a distinctive research production: from 1990 to 2007, and from 2012to 2021. This bibliometric analysis focuses on three research questions: a) what are thekey concepts being addressed within each period? b) who are most productive authorsand journals on the matter? c) what are the most relevant topics being addressedaround the link between boards and transformation? Results show that while maintaining corporate governance as a central topic to beresearched, others such as innovation efforts, performance and the impact of thedynamics increase the attention of the researchers. New lines of research have emergeddealing not only with who governs transformation, but also on what is governed andthe consequences of decision making about transformation
