Resumen de Impacto económico de la mejora de la productividad en la rentabilidad del sector vacuno de carne en españa

J. Lopez Paredes, Rafael Alenda Jiménez

  • The last published data of beef cattle fertility in Spain shows a poor fertility of the Spanish population (0.68 registered calf per cow and year). High first calving age, high calving interval and may be high calving mortality caused this value. This situation has a capital impact in the cattle sector economy. This study shows the possible improvement of the economic situation due to a decrease of the calving interval until 365 days and the decrease of first calving age until 2 year. The commercialized young animals could achieve an increment of 534.839 young animals per year at weaning, and the economic impact could be 210.306.259 € for the Spanish Beef Cattle Sector. These results determine the improvement of fertility as a priority for the sector
