AbstractThe purpose of this investigation was to examine the relationship between perception of mobbing and the development of posttraumatic stress symptoms. We assessed whether mobbing is perceived as a traumatic event for the people tested. A total of 169 employees participated in the study of which 58.6% (99) worked for a private company, a 79.9% (135) had a permanent tenure, and 20.7% (35) had a managerial position.  The study results indicate that 32.0% (54) of the sample felt victim of mobbing and that 87.0% (47) of their harassers were managerial employees. We found significant correlations between the number of strategies of mobbing and the presence of symptoms of PTSD. The results suggest that the perception of mobbing strategies may result in the manifestation of PTSD symptomatology.
