    Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, y gracias a la neutralidad española, se constituyó una interesante colonia de polacos en Madrid. La creación del Comité Nacional Polaco en la península, liderado por el conde Dzieduszycki, un personaje cuya integración social y política en la capital fue clave, posibilitó entre otras actuaciones la Exposición de los Pintores Polacos ―Wladyslaw Jahl, Józef Pankiewicz, Wanda Pankiewicz, Waclaw Zawadowski y Marjan Paszkiewicz― en el patio del Ministerio de Estado. El arte de vanguardia polaco no estuvo exento de una crítica negativa y, aun así, tras la muestra algunos de sus miembros continuaron su trayectoria en el movimiento ultraísta. En definitiva, un interesante capítulo que formó parte del desarrollo de la vanguardia artística española de la primera mitad del siglo XX.

    During the First World War, and thanks to Spanish neutrality, an interesting colony of Poles was established in Madrid. Led by Count Dzieduszycki, a personality whose social and political integration in the capital played a key role, the creation of the Polish National Committee in the Peninsula made possible, among other events, the Exhibition of Polish Painters ―Wladyslaw Jahl, Józef Pankiewicz, Wanda Pankiewicz, Waclaw Zawadowski and Marjan Paszkiewicz―in the courtyard of the State Ministry. Polish avant-garde art was received not without negative criticism, and even so, after the exhibition some of their members continued their trajectory in the Ultraist movement. In short, an interesting chapter that was part of the development of the Spanish artistic avant-garde during the first half of the 20th century.
