Resumen alternativo:The Orientation With Life Scale measures optimism. In this study we verify their psychometric properties with a 791 Colombian worker sample. It is also explored if it is useful by to measure organizational and work optimism. Participants were asked to answer each item thinking about their life, their company and their work. Convergent validity was revised using the Subjective With Life Scale (SWLS). Internal consistency was estimated using the composite reliability and Cronbach's Alpha. The structure of the scale was explored with confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA). There were high, significant and positive correlations between Satisfaction with Life and Optimism and negatives with Pessimism. AFC showed adjustment of the two-dimensional structure. Adequate internal consistency was found. The findings indicate that scale is appropriate for the measurement of optimism/pessimism in life, organizations and work.
