Resumen de Intervalo entre partos, condición corporal al parto y duración de la lactación de vacas explotadas bajo paridera continua en el ecosistema de la dehesa: Factores de variación

A. Daza

  • Five-hundred and forty seven calving intervals (CI), 645 calvings and 619 weanings from 8 Retinta cows and 89 crossbreed (Charolais x Retinta) cows in a farm in dehesa ecosystem with continuous calving were controlled. The cows were located in three fences The stocking rate in all fences of the farm was 0,38 cows/ha. The average CI was 392.6 days. Cow breed, the fence, month of calving, gender and breed of calf, year of calving, body condition score at calving and lactation duration had not significant effect on CI. However, cow and calving order affected significantly (P< 0.05) at CI. The CI according to the parity number were: 428.3, 392.8, 369.3, 365.8, 361.1, 360,3, 397.8, 416.5, 388.5 and 425.6 days from the 1st to the 10th and following respectively. Cow breed, the fence, month of calving and breed of calf had significant influence (P<0.05) on body condition at calving. The month of calving affected significantly (P<0.05) at the weaning age of calves It is concluded that continuous calving in dehesa ecosystem is not interesting for producers. A reduction of culling age of cows can be advisable to decrease the CI.
