La muerte como entrega

    El artículo intenta recoger opiniones de no creyentes, con la sospecha de que pudiera no acabarse todo con la muerte. Contrapone la actual visión optimista del cuerpo como “expresión” del alma a la clásica opinión griega del cuerpo como “cárcel” del alma, buscando lo válido de cada una. Y, más allá de filosofías sobre el alma inmortal, analiza un poco la esperanza cristiana fundada en la resurrección de Jesús y la esperanza, más atisbada que fundada, que brota de las chispas de eternidad que ofrece la vida, y que permiten ver la muerte más como una llegada que como una partida. Saca de ahí algunas consecuencias prácticas y sugiere que cuando algo se entrega verdaderamente sin que nos sea arrebatado, nunca se pierde. De ahí la importancia de una preparación para la muerte, en el acto de aceptarla conscientemente.

    The article attempts to collect opinions of non-believers, with the suspicion that everything may not end with death. It contrasts the current optimistic view of the body as “expression” of the soul with the classical Greek view of the body as “prison” of the soul, looking for the validity of each. And, beyond philosophies on the immortal soul, he analyses a little the Christian hope founded on the resurrection of Jesus and the hope, more glimpsed than founded, that springs from the sparks of eternity that life offers, and that allow us to see death more as an arrival than as a departure. He draws some practical consequences from this and suggests that when something is truly given without being taken from us, it is never lost. Hence the importance of a preparation for death, in the act of consciously accepting it.
