This research project arises as a result of a course IBRO-LARC/PEDECIBA offered by Biological Research Institute Clemente Estable in collaboration with CFE, called “Neurosciences and Artificial Intelligence for all”, whose purpose was promote the study and teaching of neuroscience with powerful, simple and cheap instruments, for the concept “Do it yourself”. The Neuron SpikerBox PRO is anelectronic instrument that allows the registration of the physiological activity of the nervous system, recording action potentials and measuring their frequency in a simple way, perfect to use in classrooms of Biological Science. In this project, we measure the bioelectrical activity in only one mechanoreceptor of the middle and hind leg from the cockroach Blaptica dubia, looking for differences inthe discharge frequencies between both legs. To make a repeatable and reproducible mechanicalstimulus, we developed a homemade mechanical arm, easy to replicate and use. We show that thehind leg generates a train of nervous impulses of higher frequency than the middle leg, this beingconstant in the face of repetitive stimuli, in the same zone of the leg. This project was oriented inthe idea of creating an experience that other teachers can replicate the concepts in their classroomsand give to the students the opportunity to carry out research work. Keywords: e-learning, academicresults, upper secondary education, COVID-19.
