    Breve repaso a las vicisitudes históricas que ha atravesado el lugar donde José Ramón Berenguer realizó las excavaciones entre 1857 y 1860. Se realiza un análisis del artículo de este autor y se hace hincapié en la originalidad de la estructura del balneum, la posibilidad de un ribat pre mardanisí, la construcción de la Torre de Los Alcázares, los algibes asociados al lugar y la posible relación con una explotación minera del siglo XIX.

    Brief review of the historical vicissitudes that have crossed the place where José Ramón Berenguer carried out the excavations between 1857 and 1860. An analysis of the article by this author is made and emphasis is placed on the originality of the structure of the balneum, the possibility of a pre-Mardanisi ribat, the construction of the Torre de Los Alcázares, the algibes associated with the place and the possible relationship with a mining exploitation of the nineteenth century.
