    La integración internacional, en cualquier esfera, constituye un factor clave para el desarrollo. América Latina y el Caribe, con condiciones favorables para aunar procesos y fuerzas de diversos campos, se ha caracterizado por muy bajos niveles reales de integración. En este trabajo se destaca el rol que debe desempeñar la educación superior como un factor ecuménico y dinamizador en el proceso de integración en la región de América Latina y el Caribe. Para sustentarlo se evalúan los factores que tienden a favorecer la integración, así como aquellos que fomentan las posiciones divisionistas. Corona el trabajo el ejemplo de Cuba y lo alcanzado en la educación superior, alineada siempre con la tendencia integradora enfrentando y venciendo, también en esta esfera, las medidas contra la mayor de las Antillas, ilegalmente aplicadas por el gobierno de los Estados Unidos. El objetivo del trabajo es enfatizar en la fortaleza de la educación superior para favorecer la integración, las oportunidades y resultados modestos, pero alentadores que se han logrado

    International integration, in any sphere, is a key factor for development. Latin America and the Caribbean, with favorable conditions for uniting processes and forces from various fields, has been characterized by very low real levels of integration. This paper highlights the role that higher education must play as an ecumenical and dynamic factor in the integration process in the Latin American and Caribbean region. To support it, the factors that tend to favor integration are evaluated, as well as those that foster divisive positions. The work is crowned by the example of Cuba and what has been achieved in higher education, always aligned with the integrating trend, facing and defeating, also in this sphere, the measures against the largest of the Antilles, illegally applied by the United States government. The objective of the work is to emphasize the strength of higher education to promote integration, opportunities and modest but encouraging results that have been achieved
