    La docencia, la práctica y el estudio de la música tuvieron un protagonismo notable en el siglo XIX, gracias al influjo de la Ilustración y los nuevos ideales del Liberalismo. En este artículo rescatamos la trayectoria vital y profesional de Juan Valladares (1795-1862), quien trabajó como profesor y organista en La Orotava durante gran parte de su vida. Partiendo de lo ya publicado al respecto, se analiza su contribución al fomento de la música culta o de salón (preferiblemente para piano y pianoforte), la solemnidad procurada al culto en iglesias de esa localidad y el protagonismo que tuvo a la hora de mudar, afinar y preservar varios órganos del siglo XVIII.

    The teaching, practice and study of music were of greater importance in the 19th century, due to the influence of the Enlightenment and the new ideals of Liberalism. In this paper we study the lífe and professional career of Juan Valladares (1795-1862), who worked as a teacher and organist in La Orotava for much of his lífe. Based on the infonnation already published, its contribution to the promotion of cultured or parlor music (preferably for piano and pianoforte), the advancement of worship in various churches and the prominence that he acquired at the time of moving, tuning and preserving organs of the 18th century.
