Toxicidad retiniana por hidroxicloroquina

    Se realizó un estudio funcional y estructural de los cambios producidos en la retinopatía por hidroxicloroquina tras el cese del tratamiento. Los pacientes fueron monitorizados por imagen multimodal y test de función visual, clasificándose en cuatro grupos según la severidad. A pesar de no demostrar estabilidad macular en la estructura retiniana tras el cese del tratamiento, los cambios maculares se correlacionaban con la severidad de la retinopatía en el momento de suspender el fármaco.

    The aim of this study was to characterize functional and structural changes in hydroxychloroquine retinal toxicity after drug cessation. The patients were monitored with multimodal imaging and tests of visual function, and categorized into four separate groups depending on the severity. Although HCQ retinopathy does not show stability in the retinal structure and function after HCQ cessation, the magnitude of changes produced during follow-up correlate with the severity of the retinopathy at cessation time.
