    Es intención de este artículo, dar a conocer la experiencia vivida en una pequeña localidad de Bizkaia, el Valle de Karrantza. En junio de 2013 se inició el concurso El Mejor Rincón, de la Guía Repsol. La participación de la Cueva de Pozalagua, representando a la Comunidad del País Vasco en dicho concurso, se ha vivido con una extraordinaria pasión, y se ha culminado con la proclamación del Mejor Rincón. Esto no habría sido posible sin tres factores claves en este proceso: primero, el sentimiento de orgullo que nos embarga a todos los carranzanos cuando se habla de esta deslumbrante gruta que se encuentra en nuestro territorio. En segundo lugar, por visualizar rápidamente, tanto los responsables municipales como la ciudadanía en general, a través de la creación de la Plataforma Pozalagua, la repercusión y beneficios que dicho concurso podría acarrear, y por último, el trabajo en equipo de éstos, y el resto de Instituciones Vascas. Todos ellos, han sido capaces de dar un ejemplo de unidad en pos de un objetivo común, algo tan sencillo pero a la vez tan difícil en estos tiempos de penurias políticas, donde el distanciamiento entre la ciudadanía y los representantes políticos resulta tan evidente. La repercusión mediática del concurso ha conseguido aumentar el número de visitas de Pozalagua en más de un 80% con respecto al año anterior. Este aumento de visitantes, fortalece el papel de la Cueva como referente y motor del sector turístico, todo ello en un municipio eminentemente rural como el de Karrantza, donde las explotaciones ganaderas de leche, base de su economía, están atravesando una importante crisis. Es por ello, que se antoje fundamental para el presente y futuro del Valle de Karrantza la consolidación de la Cueva de Pozalagua, como dinamizador de los diversos recursos turísticos de la comarca.

    The object of this article is to make public what has happened in a small place in Bizkaia, the Valley of Karrantza. In June 2013 the contest for the Best Corner in Spain was launched, organized by the Repsol Motoring Guide. The Pozalagua Cave was chosen to represent the Basque Country in this contest and the participation was such a passionate experience that it ended up being proclaimed the Best Corner. This would not have been possible had it not been for three key factors in the process: the pride all of us in Karrantza feel on hearing any mention of this dazzling grotto to be found in our enclave; the swift realization on behalf of both the municipal authorities and the general public, through the creation of the Pozalagua Platform, of the consequences and rewards that this contest would lead to; and the teamwork shown by them and by the rest of the Basque Institutes. All of them have managed to give an example on how to unite forces and work together for a common cause, something so simple yet so difficult nowadays with political impoverishment, where the distance between the general public and the political representatives is so obvious. The media impact of the contest resulted in an increase of 80% in visits to the Pozalagua Cave compared with the previous year. This increase in visitors strengthens the driving role of the Cave in the tourism sector, in a region so rural as is Karrantza where dairy farming, the foundation of its economy, is going through a serious crisis. That is why it is so important for the future of Karrantza to consolidatethe Pozalagua Cave as a driving force and model for the different tourism resources in the area.
