The history of library evaluation activities began in Italy in the late 1980s and early 1990s when an important reflection on the theme of centrality and listening to the user developed and important experiences of evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of the service also began thanks to the encounter of librarianship with the culture and techniques of management. Today the question that seems to need answering sounds more or less like this: “To what collective interest do libraries in the 21st century respond?” This is what so-called social librarianship is asking itself. It was animated by these suggestions the conference was held at the Tilane library in Paderno Dugnano on 23 June 2022, organised by CSBNO - Culture Socialità Biblioteche Network Operativo in memory of Rino Clerici entitled: Measurement and evaluation of libraries: changes, impacts and reports of 30 years of common work.
