El artículo presenta un resumen de la organización actual de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos (UCIP) del Hospital Universitario “Miguel Servet” de Zaragoza. Se describe la historia de la Unidad y su actividad asistencial, docente e investigadora. Igualmente, se reflejan las líneas para la mejora de la calidad asistencial, las actividades para fomentar la humanización de la asistencia, los últimos hitos científico-técnicos y los retos futuros de la misma.

This article is a summary of the present organization of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Children´s Hospital Miguel Servet of Zaragoza. The authors describe the history of the Unit and its medical, teaching and research activities. The article also shows the improvement lines of quality care assistance, the initiatives performed to improve the humanization of medical assistance activities, the main scientific and technical milestones of the Unit and the main challenges for the future.
