O virtual, a atualização e o tempo presente em Émile Benveniste: uma leitura sobre o signo “vazio”

    This work aims to resume the relationship between the temporality of the discursive instance and the non-virtuality characterization of the personal pronoun, or “void sign”, by Émile Benveniste. The main hypothesis is that the personal pronoun, which can only be considered as an update, does not presuppose the representation of the present time, proposed by Benveniste as the original and exclusive form of enunciation. The virtuality of the sign, predicted by Benveniste, becomes a way of explaining the permanence or “eternity” of the present time, given the unique condition of each utterance, which is repeated in the face of every new appropriation of language by the announcer.

    Este trabalho objetiva retomar a relação entre a temporalidade da instância discursiva e a caracterização de não virtualidade do pronome pessoal, ou “signo vazio”, em Émile Benveniste. A hipótese principal é que o pronome pessoal, que apenas pode ser considerado enquanto atualização, não pressupõe a representação do tempo presente, proposto por Benveniste como forma originária e exclusiva da enunciação. A virtualidade do signo, prevista por Benveniste, torna-se um modo de explicar a permanência ou “eternidade” do tempo presente, diante da condição singular de cada enunciação, que se repete frente a toda nova apropriação da língua pelo locutor.
