This work aims to study the of a functional gradation (FG) composite rotor shaft under the influence of temperature variation and the power law index, to find out how to choose the type of FG composition, depending on vibratory behavior. The modeling of the structure is done by the hierarchical polynomial (h-p) version of the finite element method. A theoretical study based on Timoshenko’s beam model is made for the establishment of the kinetic energy and the strain energy of the shaft. The distribution of material property of the functionally graded materials shaft change through the thickness and it is evaluated according to power-law distribution. The natural frequencies of the studied model are determined using a program developed in MATLAB. The results obtained from the shaft system in this article have been verified by comparing frequencies with the available literature previously published. Numerical examples are also given to illustrate the variation of frequencies under the influence of temperature, type of materials, and volume fraction index.
