La renovación de los establecimientos de alojamiento turístico se ha convertido en un eje clave de la política pública turística de las Islas Canarias (España). El principal objetivo de este trabajo es caracterizar el proceso de renovación de los alojamientos turísticos derivado de la aplicación de dicha política pública. Así, se caracterizan a los establecimientos turísticos que se han acogido a cualquier tipo de incentivo público y que, por tanto, están incluidos en los “Planes de Modernización, Mejora e Incremento de la Competitividad”.
The renovation of tourism accommodation facilities has become a key focus of public tourism policy in the Canary Islands (Spain). The main purpose of this paper is to characterize the process of renovation of tourism accommodation undertaken in the framework of this public policy. For that, we analyse tourism establishments that have been benefited from any kind of public incentive and therefore are incuded in the “Plan for Modernization, Improvement and Increase of the Competitiveness”.
