Don Enrique Enríquez de Mendoza and Doña María de Guzmán, first Counts of Alba de Aliste, granted their respective testaments in Garrovillas de Alconétar, village belonging to their estate, which also included other towns, villages and places such as Zamora, Carbajales, Castrocalbón, Villada, Bembibre, and so on. The fact that the Counts decided to draw up their last will in Garrovillas de Alconétar, together with their wish that their bodies, once they passed away, were to be buried in the Franciscan convent of Saint Anthony of Padua (which was founded by themselves in 1476 and of which they were also trustees), is very significant of their warmth and affection for this village of the province of Cáceres, where they also erected their palace-house.
