This paper addresses a reading of Oeste (2013), a key book in the poetic career of Pureza Canelo (Moraleja, 1946). It is argued that it is not possible to speak of a rupture with respect to her second poetic stage, characterized by metapoetry, since in the latter the union between word and nature that defined the first works of the author has continued to be present. The critical reading of Oeste shows that we are not dealing with a book about regional customs, but rather that it poeticizes the author’s birthplace from a deeply existential and metaphysical perspective, as did poets such as Wordsworth, Juan Ramón Jiménez or Seamus Heaney in North.
