    • The need to generate new communication and social interaction tools during the confinement suffered as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the starting point for the development of the metaverse in various sectors of economic activity. However, it is in the training sector where the metaverse is positioned as a necessary and essential technology to achieve an effective digital teaching-learning process. After years of development, Virtual Reality (VR) is one of the technologies related to the metaverse with a more mature development cycle. However, the economic cost involved in the implementation of VR technologies is commonly identified as one of its limitations and the main reason that slows down its implementation in many educational and training institutions. In view of this scenario, the goal of this research is to develop a VR investment evaluation tool for the educational sector, based on technical analysis and cost-benefit analysis (CBA), to determine the technical and economic feasibility of different VR technology implementation projects in the upcoming educational metaverse.
