Resumen de An active b-learning propaedeutic course on telecommunications engineering for fresh students

The Netherlands’ Higher Education System, in Europe, has a long-time experience with a one-year propaedeutic stage in university for fresh students, which serves as a way to gain an insight over the content of a given study program, as a mean to orientate students in their academic career, and as a test to determine whether they are suited for studying the major they have selected. Even after the Bologna process became effective, this year in the Netherlands has remained live. Since Spain does not have such an option presently, a group of professors at Technical University of Madrid devised a propaedeutic first year course to somehow meet, in a more modest way, a similar goal to the Netherlands’ but limited to the telecommunications engineering field of knowledge. With the intention to serve a reference for a further discussion, this paper introduces the experience and current status of that initiative one decade after this course was incorporated for the first time to the general curriculum of the School of Telecommunication Systems Engineering, in the Technical University of Madrid.
