  El término calor se conoce desde la más remota antigüedad, fue usado por el hombre para protegerse del frío, del acecho de los animales y para mejorar la calidad de sus alimentos. La idea que el hombre tenía de la naturaleza del calor es muy distinta a la que actualmente se conoce en física. Luego, para apreciar el estado actual de nuestro conocimiento sobre el calor y compararlo con épocas anteriores, adquiriendo una visión rigurosa de su evolución, nos proponemos viajar en el tiempo para conocer cómo nace y se desarrolla la idea del calor, poner en evidencia el carácter lógico-histórico de los descubrimientos científicos y el lugar que han tenido importantes hombres de ciencia. Este artículo tiene como objetivo presentar el concepto “Calor”, de la forma más sencilla y profunda posible.

  The term heat is known since the most remote ancient times, it was used by the man to be protected of the cold, for the threaten of the animals and to improve the quality of its foods. The idea about the heat origin that the man had is very different to its knowledge in physics today. Then, to appreciate the current state of our knowledge about the heat and to compare it with previous times, in order to obtain a rigorous vision of their evolution, we intend to travel in the time to know the origin and development of the heat idea, the logical-historical character that illustrates the heat concept was puts in evidence of the scientific discoveries where important science men had places. This paper has as objective to present the concept of the heat, in the simpler and deeper possible way.
