Resumen de Proyecto Geoparque Ruta del Oro (Ecuador): situación actual de la propuesta

  El proyecto Geoparque Ruta del Oro nació de la necesidad de poner en valor el patrimonio geológico-minero presente en el distrito minero Zaruma-Portovelo (Ecuador). El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el estado actual de la iniciativa de geoparque para el planteamiento de acciones a futuro que ayuden a conseguir su nombramiento por la UNESCO. El trabajo consta de tres fases: i) recopilación de información previa y evaluación crítica del estado de la iniciativa de geoparque; ii) análisis del plan de divulgación y participación de la comunidad en el proyecto y; iii) planteamiento de iniciativas concretas para mejorar la propuesta. Este trabajo ha puesto en manifiesto que el proyecto Geoparque Ruta del Oro cumple con los estándares propuestos por la UNESCO y cuenta con una buena aceptación por parte de la comunidad y autoridades locales. Sin embargo, uno de los desafíos por desarrollar es la constitución de una estructura administrativa activa que se encargue del manejo y; gestión del proyecto, así como un equipo técnico-científico capaz de coordinar a todos los autores involucrados en la candidatura para aspirar a geoparque mundial de la UNESCO.

  The Ruta del Oro Geopark project was born from the need to value the geological-mining heritage present in the Zaruma-Portovelo mining district (Ecuador). The objective of this work is to analyze the current state of the geopark initiative for the planning of future actions that help to achieve its appointment by UNESCO. The work consists of three phases: i) the collection of prior information and critical evaluation of the status of the geopark initiative; ii) the analysis of the dissemination plan and community participation in the project, and iii) the proposal of specific initiatives to improve the proposal. This work has shown that the Ruta del Oro Geopark project complies with the standards proposed by UNESCO and is well accepted by the community and local authorities. However, one of the challenges to be developed is the constitution of an active administrative structure that oversees management and project management, as well as a technical-scientific team capable of coordinating all the authors involved in the nomination to aspire to become a UNESCO Global Geopark.
