  • Resumen
    • Kashmir valley in India is viewed as a mix of complex images ranging from very scenic to high risk. In such scenario, tourist decision making depends on the perceived reality of tourists. This research is an attempt to deconstruct this perceived reality of tourism attractiveness of Kashmir valley based on the onsite survey of 370 tourists. The factors of tourism attractiveness are identified and an index of destination attractiveness (IDA) is prepared using weighted averages. The results of the study support the common perception that natural attractions are central to tourism attractiveness of the valley but additional tourism motivators and hygiene factors are below the expectations of tourists. The findings of the study can be used to build and align tourism attractiveness through continuous tracking of tourists’ perceptions using the IDA.
