Resumen de Procesos de Transición en el Nivel de Máster: el Fenómeno de los Estudiantes Internacionales en las Titulaciones del Área de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Barcelona y la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona

En las últimas décadas ha habido un incremento del número de titulaciones de máster y deestudiantes que se matriculan en este nivel educativo. El aumento de los estudiantesinternacionales está relacionado con la internacionalización de la educación superior.Actualmente, asistimos a una diversificación de perfiles, dentro del nivel educativo demáster, con unas necesidades, expectativas y transiciones diferenciadas. La tesis se enmarcaen el contexto de una de las líneas de investigación del equipo TRALS sobre las transicionesen el nivel de máster desarrollada, en los últimos años, a través de varios proyectos. Lajustificación del proyecto se encuentra en la carencia de investigaciones desarrolladas en elsistema educativo español. Este pretende analizar las transiciones de los estudiantesinternacionales que vienen a Barcelona para cursar un máster, aproximarse a la vivencia quetienen respecto a sus proyectos vitales, la evolución de su proyecto profesional y laconstrucción de su identidad. Los alumnos matriculados que conforman la población deanálisis de la tesis son 461 estudiantes de másteres de ciencias socialies y jurídicas de lasuniversidades Autónoma (UAB) y de Barcelona (UB) de la cohorte 2017-18. Teniendo encuenta la finalidad de la investigación, la complejidad del fenómeno, y la necesidad de unacomplementariedad de los datos se aborda desde una metodología multiestratégica y mixta.La utilización de estrategias cuantitativas y cualitativas de recogida y análisis de lainformación constituye el eje fundamental para estudiar la indivisibilidad del hecho socialrespecto a las trayectorias académicas.

In recent decades there has been an increase in the number of master's degrees and studentsenrolling at this educational level. The increase in international students is related to theinternationalization of higher education. Currently, we are witnessing a diversification ofprofiles, within the master's level of education, with differentiated needs, expectations andtransitions. The thesis is framed within the context of one of the TRALS team's lines ofresearch on transitions at master's level developed in recent years through several projects.The justification for the project lies in the lack of research developed in the Spanisheducation system. It aims to analyse the transitions of international students who come toBarcelona to study a master's degree, to get closer to the experience they have regardingtheir vital projects, the evolution of their professional project and the construction of theiridentity. The enrolled students who make up the population of analysis of the thesis are 461students of master's degrees in social and legal sciences from the Autonomous Universityof Barcelona (UAB) and the University of Barcelona (UB) from cohort 2017-18. Taking intoaccount the purpose of the research, the complexity of the phenomenon and the need for acomplementarity of data is approached from a multi-strategic and mixed methodology. Theuse of quantitative and qualitative strategies for the collection and analysis of informationconstitutes the fundamental axis for studying the indivisibility of the social fact with respectto academic trajectories.
